Can't help with the tvcatchup site, but gromit pointed me towards the iportal.me site which is a paid for proxy server at £5 per month (or £50 a year): even good for holidayers because you can just buy a month's subscription.
This simply pretends you are in the UK so you can watch UK TV (certainly the BBCs) live, or anything on BBC iplayer or C4OD. I've never felt the need to try out the ITV offerings, or figure if I can do C4 live, but voices say that the BBC and C4 feeds are pretty solid, and ITV less so. The robust thing about paying this small sum for your proxy (for sure there are free proxies) is that you are directly onto a fast UK 'node' so buffering even on live stuff is rare. |
