Miss Taser I wasn't daring to imply "you" no, no, - just dumb folk in giro here abouts and in general. Anyway glad to hear your leak has been located. Looking forward to Xmas already.

Happened here Lax too, but in an uncovered pool in the height of summer. Some friends came back from wherever to find that one of the cows from the farm which borders their land was wallowing in the shallow end. Farmer told them off for leaving a gate to their property open. Happened again the next day - silly moo clearly enjoyed a nice cool off.

A big risk to people are summer pool "heat" covers - the blue bubble wrap like ones. They can envelope you in seconds. My instructor inthe UK tested the effects of walking on one (wearing his diving gear and using oxygen). He said he would not have been able to free himself.

It's because people with Giro's can't afford pool maintenance!

Update (part 6)

So I arrived at Casa Cinghers at the end of July, expecting to leap into the limpid blue waters of the completed piscina, only to be faced with a very disappointing spectacle (please see thumbnails).

It was obviously time for desperate measures and some serious whip-cracking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdHFacoZy9s

Perhaps the donkey and carrot approach might work, Cinghers?

Update (part 7)

So, having thrown all the toys out of my pram and used some rather basic anglosaxon words that even the Italians seemed to understand, things moved ahead apace.

Over the weekend the stones were laid around the pool (naturally they had miscalculated the requirement so we ended up 3 stones short!). On Monday the liner was fitted. On Tuesday and Wednesday the builders did their finishing touches and cleared the site.

The water man said it would be delivered 'after 4:00pm' on Wednesday. When we went out to dinner at 7:00pm the pool was still dry as a bone.

However, when we returned at midnight, there was a huge water tanker filling the pool. And, after a further delivery at 1:30am, it was full!!

Thursday afternoon the pool people pitched up (on time!) and sorted out the pump, filter, chemicals etc.

And on Friday morning the pool, although a little chilly, was christened by the Cinghers family
